Notes: The land along the Utah - Arizona border is a geologic spectacle where ancient sandstone has been twisted and swirled into bizarre and mesmerizing shapes by wind and water and time. Here the emerald - green Colorado River makes a gigantic bend more than a thousand feet below our overlook, swinging first to the east, then curving back to the west. You are atop sheer orange cliffs, stained with desert varnish, viewing the green river, with a beautiful, yet overcast sky above. Truly spectacular! |
