Notes: The Curtiss-Wright P-40 Warhawk was one of the most popular and successful WWII planes. Best known as used by the American Volunteer Group (the Flying Tigers) under Colonel Claire Chennault in the late 1930's and in 1940, the AVG destroyed 297 enemy planes while losing only ten of their own in combat. |
